Current Event

I enjoyed doing current events, enough that I volunteered to do a second one. I think that is was the best way of getting involved with topics. You are forced to not just listen or try to understand the issues but rather get involved with them. Doing current events forced each and every one of us to learn the topic well enough to teach the class. I really enjoyed doing the current event on Jason Collins because it dealt with sports and the issue of gay people coming out which I thought was a very good topic. Leading the discussion is challenging because you have to create questions that would generate a discussion and allow people to pose their stances on different topics. I definitely wouldn’t mind doing current events because I always find that I get the most from teaching the class rather than just sitting in class listening to someone talk dosing off until I get asked a question.
